چکیده

One type of renewable alternative energy that has great potential to be developed is biodiesel. Biodiesel a fuel consisting mixture mono-alkyl esters long-chain fatty acids made from sources such as vegetable oils or animal fats. Such the oil products can used feedstock for biodiesel production cooking oil. Used The purpose this research study characteristics effect catalyst mass, ratio mole methanol mole, and adding THF 1:1 co-solvent on purity using heterogeneous ash derived Nipah fruit skin calcined at 500°C 4 hours. process variables were transesterification reaction time 60, 90, 120, 150 minutes, 1:19, 1:21, 1:23 with addition THF: v/v co-solvent. properties density, viscosity, moisture content, acid number evaluated compared Indonesian National Standard (SNI). obtained density 860.2 Kg/m3 viscosity 2.37 mm2/s. They contained 44.14% Palmitic 43.04% Octadecenoic (oleic), following maximum yield was 93.3598% oil: 60°C 120 TFT 1:1, 3% mass. results in indicate catalysts kapok produce Adding increase methyl ester so high obtained.

Transesterification of Waste Cooking Oil for Biodiesel Production Using Modified Clinoptilolite Zeolite as a Heterogeneous Catalyst

Reduction of fossil fuels sources, increasing of pollution gases emission, and global warming effects increase the demand of renewable fuels. One of the main candidates of alternative fuels is biodiesel. Biodiesel limits greenhouse gas effects due to the closed CO2 cycle. Biodiesel has more biodegradability, lower combustion emissions such as CO, SOx, HC, PM and lower toxicity than petro diesel...

Biodiesel Production from Used Cooking Oil

Production of biodiesel was involved transesterification process that implicated the reaction between used cooking oil and methanol with aid of KOH. The reaction was carried out at 15 min, 30 min, 60 min, 90 min, and 120 min to evaluate the effect of reaction time on the yield of fatty acid methyl ester (FAME). The highest yield of FAME was obtained at reaction time 60 min. Besides that, the yi...

Biodiesel Production from Palm Oil using Heterogeneous Base Catalyst

In this study, the transesterification of palm oil with methanol for biodiesel production was studied by using CaO–ZnO as a heterogeneous base catalyst prepared by incipient-wetness impregnation (IWI) and co-precipitation (CP) methods. The reaction parameters considered were molar ratio of methanol to oil, amount of catalyst, reaction temperature, and reaction time. The optimum conditions—15:1 ...

Biodiesel production from soybean oil using ionic liquid as a catalyst in a microreactor

In the present study, Choline hydroxide (ChOH) as an ionic liquid catalyst was used for transesterification of soybean oil into biodiesel in a microchannel reactor. The effects of three variables i.e. reaction temperature, catalyst dosage and total flow rate on fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) content (wt. %) were optimized using Box–Behnken experimental design. In order to predict the FAME conte...

Synthesis of biodiesel from Jatropha curcas L. seed oil using artificial zeolites loaded with CH3COOK as a heterogeneous catalyst

An environmentally benign process was developed for the transesterification of Jatropha curcas L. seed oil with methanol using artificial zeolites loaded with potassium acetate as a heterogeneous catalyst. After calcination for 5 h at 823 K, the catalyst loaded with 47 wt.% CH3COOK exhibited the highest efficiency and best catalytic activity. The easily prepared catalysts were characterized by ...
